Branko has had a distiguished academic career as Head of School of Electrical Engineeering and Telecommunications and Elected Member of the University Senate at UNSW, Executive Dean of the College of Health and Science at WSU and Chief Scientist at the CSIRO ICT Centre. He is a widely published biomedical scientist, with more than 300 refereed conference proceedings, book chapters and Journal papers, and has made internationally recognised contributions in telehealth for the management of patients with chronic conditions and in exercise physiology and rehabilitation. He continues to be an active researcher in numerous biomedical domains and following his diagnosis with cardiac sarcoidosis in 2012, he is now devoting his efforts to promoting research of this condition. In 2018 he published a novel paper with himself as the case study, proposing that sarcoidosis is caused by mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis (MAP) and could be cured with prolonged use of antibiotics.
